Work is Valuable

Today as we celebrate Labor Day and most have a day of rest, I am reminded that this holiday was established to honor laborers in this country.
Work is very noble. Each has something to contribute. It may not be a salaried job, but all have purpose and something useful to offer.
Psalm 20:4 is one of my favorite Bible verses:
May He grant you your heart’s desire
And fulfill all your [c]counsel! (footnote translates as purpose)
Using the letters in the word WORK I will outline concepts to consider regarding our call to work.
Worship
Colossians 3:17
17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father,

Original design

Genesis 2:15 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

Responsibility and Reward

Colossians 3:23-24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

23 Whatever you do, do your work [a]heartily, as for the Lord [b]rather than for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward [c]of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
2thessalonians 3;12
Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.
Kindness
Ephesians 4:28
he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.

The most important work is to believe.

John 6:27-29 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

27 Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.” 28 Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

It is also important that we remember to find rest.

Matthew 11:28 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

28 Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Since the true work of God is to believe here is a link to a song by Hillsong concerning what we believe.

Also, here is a song to inspire us to believe what God says:
