Because He Lives

John 14:27 (Amplified Bible)
27Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

We all long for security. Especially in these troubled times, we seek peace and rest from anxiety.

Today I read chapter 14 in the Gospel of John. In this passage of scripture Jesus comforts His disciples, tells them of His oneness with the Father and instructs them comcerning the role of the Holy Spirit as He prepares them for His departure from this world.

As I read I sensed the bewilderment of the disciples and the patient determination of our Savior to reveal His purpose and plans to those who love Him. They were wondering, as we often do, how is it possible to have hope when we are facing sorrow and uncertainty. My attention was gripped by the powerful phrase in verse 19 "Because I live..."
I was reminded of a hymn I learned a long time ago. Because He Lives I found a video of many joyfully singing this song. As I watched it my heart was touched and swelled with gratitude for the truth in its message. So I share it with you in hopes that it will inspire you to worship our great God, confident in what He has done for us. (Click on the title for a link to the Because He Lives video)

The reality of an empty tomb and Christ's conquest over death, gives assurance to those who believe that we will see Him. By faith all fear can be gone. And indeed "Life is worth the living-Just because He lives!"

God bless you today.
