Clear Communication
James 1:19 (New American Standard Bible)
19This you know, my beloved brethren But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
Ephesians 4:25 (New American Standard Bible)
25Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.
Language is interesting and can be fun. I find homonyms, those words that sound exactly the same though they are spelled differently and have distinct meanings, particularly intriguing. I will do a few posts prompted by pondering this phonetic phenomenon, Upcoming blog post titles will include:
• Rain Rein Reign
• Heel and Heal
• Sow Sew So
• Prey Pray
As I think about how words can sound the same but have such different definitions, I am reminded how important it is to listen carefully and pay attention to the context in order to communicate clearly. We need to be certain about what we want to say and express it in a manner that is understandable to the listener. In effective communication, it is also important to receive the message with diligence.
Jesus is a Master Communicator. During His earthly ministry, He taught excellently with lessons that went straight to the heart and are preserved even in the present. The scriptures contain the parables of our Savior that are rich in significance. God continues to speak today. The Bible contains precious promises for us and God can grant a personal Word to instruct and encourage us.

Communication involves caution in speaking and intent listening.
Isaiah 55:3 (New American Standard Bible)
3"Incline your ear and come to Me
Listen, that you may live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the faithful mercies shown to David.
